Yelena tends pole to be beaten

Am I dreaming? Yelena Isinbayeva is actually a flying fish ! How can it be possible that this champion is dressed so bad ? Even if she can’t to dress well, she’s one of the greatest sportswoman.

Yelena Isinbayeva is a Russian pole vaulter, twice an Olympic gold medalist in 2004 and 2008. A two-time World Champion, she is also the current world record holder in the event. Yelena became the first woman to clear the five-metre barrier in 2005. Her current world records are 5.06m outdoors and 5.01m indoors.

We are in Zurich in August 2009, the bar is hight, very hight. Precisely at 5.06m, this is her first attempt :


After this vault, she breaks her 17th world record.

During her career, Yelena Isinbayeva was named Female Athlete of the Year by the IAAF in 2004, 2005 and 2008. She was also named World Sportswoman of the Year by Laureus in 2007 and 2009.

Yelena is one of only eight athletes (along with Valerie Adams, Usain Bolt, Veronica Campbell-Brown, Jacques Freitag, Jana Pittman, Dani Samuels and David Storl) to win world championships at the youth, junior and senior level of an athletic event.
